The 27-hole Rancho Las Palmas Country Club in Rancho Mirage, a chief amenity of the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, welcomes outside play without requiring an overnight stay. Showcasing gorgeous views of the San Jacinto and San Bernardino Mountains, the club presents a classic Palm Springs resort golf experience. All three nines at Rancho Las Palmas Country Club are short and user friendly. The appealing combination of the site s gentle rolling terrain, generous fairways, short rough, picturesque water hazards, and very manageable distances leads players of all skill levels to return again and again. The course is especially popular with women, senior and novice players, and it s quite common to shoot a good score here. The renowned course architect Ted Robinson, Sr., designed the course back in 1977. Robinson, who was known as The King of Water Features, incorporated six lakes into his fun, palm-tree lined playing field. The water hazards will certainly get your attention, but nothing at Rancho Las Palmas is overly difficult. Each day the club designates two of the nines for an 18-hole routing for tee times. All of the nines are somewhat different. The hillier North nine features lots of elevation changes as the holes ramble over up and down terrain. Several holes begin from elevated tee boxes, play down into a valley, and then proceed uphill to the green. Longer hitters will find a couple of drivable par 4s and reachable par 5s. The South nine is the longest and toughest side at Rancho Las Palmas Country Club. This is the nine that skilled shotmakers tend to prefer. Many players consider the West nine to be the most memorable at the club as it is the only one that winds in amidst the picturesque Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort. It s also notable that while the vast majority of holes at Rancho Las Palmas Country Club are short (none of the three 18-hole combinations tops 6,400 yards from the tips), the West nine boasts two notably long holes. The 2nd hole is a par 3 that can play as long as 235 yards, and the par-5 3rd hole maxes out at nearly 650 yards, making it one of the longest holes in the Coachella Valley. Omni Resorts operates and manages the golf course and keeps it in fine condition. Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green and chipping area. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a grill restaurant. For a true resort experience, the full-service Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa is an ideal home base for overnight stays or longer getaways. The resort and golf club are just 11 miles from downtown Palm Springs. No matter where you are in the Palm Springs golf mecca, make a tee time to play Rancho Las Palmas Country Club.
