Certainly one of the Palm Springs area's most historic and interesting clubs, Indian Canyons Resort offers 36 holes of fun and challenging golf with a unique pedigree. Known as Canyon Country Club when it first opened, the club is almost hidden in the back of a canyon, protecting it from the wind that often plays a large factor on other courses in the area. The original course at Indian Canyons is the North Course, a par 72, 6,943-yard layout designed by William P. Bell . This classic layout winds through Palm Springs "Canyon" region, where you will find a wide array of mid-center homes and beautiful mountain views. The club drew quite a few big names in its heyday. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Johnny Carson, Jackie Gleason, and Milton Berle were all regulars. In fact, for many years, Sinatra played host to an invitational tournament, which drew many well known celebrities and athletes. As for the layout, it's routed through thousands of palm, olive and other trees. Water comes into play on many of the holes, including the par-4 ninth and par-5 18th. This is also where you will also find a historic fountain, donated by none other than Walt Disney himself. The South Course was added in 2004. The course, which plays just under 6,500 yards from the back tees, was designed by Casey O'Callaghan with LPGA great and Hall of Fame Amy Alcott as a consultant. Both courses are served by a grass driving range, two full sized putting greens, chipping area, and bunker practice area. Inside the clubhouse you'll find a well-stocked golf shop and restaurant, which is open for breakfast and lunch daily.
