Shingle Creek Golf Club, a stunning course that will test all of your skills, makes for an ultra convenient tee time whether you're in Orlando for business or pleasure. Not only is it the closest golf course to the Orange County Convention Center, it is located just minutes from Universal Orlando, Disney World and other renowned attractions near International Drive. The course is the chief recreational amenity of the AAA Four-Diamond Rosen Shingle Creek hotel. Shingle Creek Golf Club is anything but a mere "hotel golf course," however. First designed by the late David Harmon (most noted for Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand, one of the world's most beautiful courses) in 2003 and redesigned by Thad Layton of the Arnold Palmer Design Company in 2016, Shingle Creek Golf Club is a championship layout situated at the headwaters of the Everglades. With interconnected hazards bringing water into play on 15 holes and wonderfully reformulated greens complexes, it deserves its reputation as one of the hardest tests of golf in all of Orlando. If your skill level is not quite so proficient, you can take heart that the redesign has softened the challenge. Be sure you're playing from the appropriate set of tee markers. You'll find extra width in the fairway landing areas, more visible bunkers so they won't sneak up on you, bailout areas when hazards loom, and friendlier ground beyond the fairway so you can hit recovery shots when you're in trouble (provided you don't wind up in the water). When the course was redesigned, Shingle Creek Golf Club gained three entirely new holes (highlighted by the tough, water-bound par-3 15th). The playing field harks back to the look and strategy that characterized golf's bygone golden age of architecture. Players have wonderful opportunities to be creative with their short game. You'll find closely-mown run-offs by the greens, along with slopes, nobs and swales that lend movement and intrigue to the tiered putting surfaces. Putting is an exhilarating challenge at Shingle Creek Golf Club. The club maintains tournament playing conditions every day. State-of-the-art technology and GPS in the golf carts will help you make your way around the course. The club's world-class practice facilities include a huge driving range and putting green, as well as chipping and bunker areas. After your round you can relax on the club's large pavilion as you enjoy cold brews and tasty offerings from the Clubhouse Grille. If you opt to stay at the hotel, you can even walk to the course from your room. It's no wonder Shingle Creek Golf Club earns acclaim for being one of the very best golf experiences you can have in Orlando.
